Recommended Vendors and Products

Schutzhund Obedience, Protection, and Tracking Equipment

Hallmark K9: Jim Hill sells premium training equipment, and I believe he is the ONLY authorized dealer of Gappay and Frabo K9 training merchandise in the United States. HallMark K9 is the retailer that we have purchased the bulk of our equipment from (Herm Sprenger prong, Gappay tug, protective scratch pants, bite sleeves, etc). Their customer service is impeccable.

HallMark K9 is located in the Philadelphia Metro area.

For Dog Trainers: These folks make very HIGH QUALITY, custom-made, handler-oriented training items (ie leather leashes, leashes with Herm Sprenger scissor-snap clips, harnesses, etc)

Weight Pull Equipment

Missy Villines- I have seen the best results in quality so far from the harness that I've ordered from Missy out in Missouri. She just opened up her new website to the general public.

CD Pits Kennels, Canada: These folks make some of the nicest quality weight pull harness in the competitive community. Our female Toni started out with a puppy harness made by CD PITS, and we definitely plan to go back for our future training needs.

Alaskan Dream Equipment, Pennsylvania- Melissa Kehler makes some really great pull harnesses. She also sells a lot of the necessary equipment to get your puller started off in training (ie drag sled, 4000 lb capacity pull-cart, weight slings, etc).

Mountain Air Competition Kennels, Colorado- Jim Walters is a VERY successful and knowledgeable weight-pull trainer and working-dog man in general. He built the weight pull harness that Mickey is presently using, and its' quality is very nice. Currently he does not have a website to refer or inquire to, but we can contact him for you, if so desired.

Cardiovascular Conditioning

If you desire a more rigorous, efficient means of working on your dog's wind, we suggest looking into a carpet or wooden slat mill. We own a carpet mill handmade by Grand Carpet Mill in Michigan, and a slat mill which was purchased from Fawn Hills Kennels' Tim Kelly. Both are excellent tools for training and physical conditioning, and we HIGHLY recommend their use.

*Be aware that slat mills are CONSIDERABLY more expensive than a carpet mill, usually starting in the $1200.00 range, on up to the $1800.00 area... and that is NOT INCLUDING SHIPPING!!

Shipping for a wood slat mill is NOT CHEAP, and it can be much more reasonable to just drive and pick it up in many cases.

Nutrition

I am by NO MEANS a performance health and nutrition expert, but I feel as though I have gotten excellent results from feeding my dogs measured portions of Bravo frozen Raw Beef Green Tripe, Nature's Variety frozen Raw Diet, Abady's High Stress and Competiton granular formulas, and Innova Evo dry kibble feed. All of these different feeds are not fed to my dogs simultaneously, but it is more dependent on the type of conditioning regimen that they are placed in at any point in time. Each of these food have seemed to work well in my feed regimen, and my dogs absolutelly love it!

Here are some links to these products to hopefully help you with your research, along with a link to the specialty feed shop that I frequent in my area (for all of these products, with the exception of the Abady's products)

If you reside in the Maryland, Northern Virginia, Washington DC metro area, then stop by one of the 3 Pro Feed locations. Their staff is helpful and friendly, and their selection of feed is outstanding! Or you can utilize their website to stay on top of what's out there, and do your product research on many of the newest nutritional products available now.

Here is the manufacturer's link to the Abady's product line, as well as the product distributor that I purchase my products from (shipping from Rockaway, Jersey). High in crude fat content, this is an excellent feed to use through everything from development of young dogs to moderate conditioning regimens. The High Stress and Maintenance formula is ideal for more rigorous training and activity.

There are many brands of frozen Raw feeds such as Aunt Jeni's, Bravo, Steve's, Nature's Variety, or just homemade raw dog food. I am currently feeding Nature's Variety Beef or Lamb formula's when conditioning for an upcoming show. If my dogs are just on a maintenance program, then I revert to dry feed with Innova Evo. But both are high quality feed options.

Regardless of which iof these two feeds I am using at any time, I supplement with weighed potions of frozen Beef Green Tripe. This is an exceptional dog food that has so many inherent benefits to its use, I can't see myself ever stopping in feeding it to my dogs! (SMELLS LIKE GARBAGE THOUGH! HAHA)
